Chat robots are software that simulates human conversations using online chats, user interfaces, messaging applications, websites and mobile applications. Peoplesoft's approach is to use this technology to build chatbots using our comprehensive application logic and data from the Oracle Chatbot Platform, also known as Oracle Digital Assistant (ODA). To use a Peoplesoft Chatbot, you need PeopleTools version 8.5.7.07 or higher for ODA (more details here). 

The HCM Pi3.1 version ships Peoplesoft's first chatbot, known as Absence Assistant, to execute employee transaction requests on time and answer common questions such as "What is my current vacation credit?" The wizard can also be used to collect accumulated credit for future appointments and to cancel absences. 

The Absence Wizard works as a step-by-step guide that asks the user to provide the necessary information for each step to achieve the desired result, as you can see in the screenshot and video features below. Employees can access the chatbot by selecting the "Absence Assistant" tile on their home page and interacting with the assistant via direct questions such as "What is my vacation credit?" Transaction queries are performed automatically, and the wizard complies with the policies you set in the Absence Management application.
