The technology industry in North Texas is growing rapidly, creating an enormous demand for talented IT professionals at all stages of their careers.

Local businesses are paying workers more for their skills in key areas such as software development and engineering, observers say. The average tech salary in the Dallas area has risen 29 percent and ranks second in North Texas. North Texas is emerging as a booming area for technology companies, in turn, because of Silicon Valley's high operating costs. This is good news for talented IT professionals positioned in the region's digital economy.

According to a study by Robert Half and the Dallas Business Journal, salaries for Java jobs in Dallas are 11 percent above the national average as savvy tech workers flock to the city. Average salaries are 10 to 15 percent higher this year, said Lee Abrahams, a talent acquisition manager, when we spoke to Brian Womack of the Journal about the rise in tech salaries in Dallas. Some of the candidates we hired this year had multiple offers in Dallas, which means demand is increasing and salaries are going up.
