Recent trends in Java Application Modernization are Spring and Spring Boot. These make it easy for developers to create enterprise applications that work fast. 

Java developers are using Jakarta EE more than other frameworks. This is because it has more framework-related cloud-based features. Many companies are hesitant to invest a lot of money into building applications and utilize an architectural design that uses microservices. Microservices are not a wrong choice, but it will take extensive effort to achieve that architecture.
